Christian Value

Our focus for this half-term is RESPECT. We will be adding to our Values tab how we are exploring how that looks in our school and how we can live it out in our lives, as Jesus taught us to.

Respect - what it means to us

Religious Education

Our RE enriches all of our learning. This term, we are looking at the question...

Why do people pray?

Things to remember:

  • School planners with reading book should be brought in everyday.
  • Each child should have their own water bottle in school that they can use in class.
  • PE lessons are on Mondays.

Toast can be purchased online and it is £10 a term.

What will we be learning this term?

In English, we will be studying the fascinating non-fiction text, 'Amazing Rivers' by Julie Vosburgh Agnone and Kerry Hydman.

As fearless adventurers, Year 3 will set sail on a fascinating voyage down the world's most extraordinary rivers.  We will learn about astounding natural wonders, from a boiling hot river so hot you can cook an egg in it to a multicoloured river that flows like a liquid rainbow.  We will learn about some incredible wildlife, from brown bears catching salmon that swim upstream to anacondas large enough to eat a pig! Our text for this half term is a fact-filled celebration of some of the most remarkable rivers on Earth.

Spring 1

Year 3 visited St Luke's Church in Brinnington

Year 3 enjoyed a great visit to St Luke's Church.  They were welcomed by Reverend Andy and a team of volunteers from the church.

During the morning, both Year 3 classes took part in a range of activities to enrich their learning about Christianity.  The children looked at different styles of Bibles, some of which were very old.  They were challenged to find specific Bible verses that teach the importance of the Bible and the children discussed how the words of the Bible share the message of God.   In groups , the children learnt how God can communicate with us, using songs and stories, letters and analogies to describe experiences and how these can help us in our everyday lives.

It was lovely to welcome parent helpers on our visit and Year 3 staff and children would like to say thank you for supporting us with our learning.
