Things to remember.....
- School planners and reading books should be in school every day.
- Children need to have their own water bottle in school.
- PE kits should be in school every day.
- Toast or an apple is served each morning (£1 per week, paid on a Monday).
Homework will be set every week.
Children will be expected to complete their reading, weekly spellings and times tables activities.
This will support their progress throughout the year in literacy and numeracy.
In addition to this, children will have homework which is linked to our current Learning Challenge.
Children will be able to earn points for each activity they complete, working towards a target and earning a prize when their target is reached.
Our new mini Learning Challenge is...
A Peek into the Peaks - looking at the many amazing aspects of The Peak District, which is just on our doorstep.
We had a superb time during our Year 5 Activity Day.
We hunted for clues using our orienteering skills, developed our team building, moulded clay into tors and named them, created landscapes and other images using pointillism and picnicked in the woods, finishing off with toasted marshmallows. What a fantastic day!
Take a look at our photos below.
As part of our Learning Challenge, we are comparing Buxton and Castleton. We are creating leaflets to persuade our families to visit one of these beautiful settlements in the heart of the Peaks.
Take a look at these promotional videos below. Which would you prefer to visit and why?
We love to read.....
Children enjoy guided reading sessions where they can develop their reading and comprehension skills.
Children will have their own reading books to take home.
We have a well resourced school library where the children are allowed to select a book.
There is also a reading corner in the classroom.
Roald Dahl was a British novelist, short story writer, poet, screenwriter, and fighter pilot. His books have sold more than 250 million copies worldwide.
During this year, we will be reading and watching film adaptations of some of the famous Roald Dahl books.
