Welcome to Year Six

This year we have such a busy time ahead. It will require plenty of hard work, patience,

determination and that all important growth mind set. We have plenty of exciting times

to look forward to and we aim for this last year to be memorable for your children.

As the oldest children in the School Year Six are expected to set a good

example to the younger children. We're organised, we're ready,  so let's get started!

                                                                               Reading

The children will be encouraged to read for pleasure and they will continue

to be reading champions in Year 6. Time will be given every day for the children to read and the class will

use Cracking comprehension on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. They will have the opportunity to read

their home / school book daily so it is important they have their book and planner with them.

Please continue to read and share books at home with your children and sign their planner when they

have finished their book.

The Year 6 Crucial Crew visit. We visited the army barracks in Stockport to participate in a number of workshops. The children learnt about some key life skills and how to stay safe. The workshops were about; hate crime, train safety, public transport conduct, DR.A.B.C - how to give CPR. Also how to be safe around water and the dangers of consuming too much sugar. Everyone found it to be a brilliant informative morning and the 'hands on' activities meant we had a great time.

Our favourite day in Year 6 is Wednesday. The whole class loves doing Yoga with Tor Ward. We learn fitness and breathing techniques and it provides a great opportunity for us to find out more about ourselves. Namaste.

On Friday 24th May the whole of St Paul's joined in a 'Race for Life' raising money for cancer research in the quest to find the cure against the illness. Everyone in Years 5 and 6 enjoyed the event and decided if they were going to sprint, jog or walk the agreed distance. All children and adults who joined in wore personal messages. Well done to everyone who took part and raised money for the event.
