Story Time with Jesus: Lesson One - Ministry To Children

Religious Education

Our RE enriches all of our learning. This term, we are looking at the question...

Why do people pray?

Geography Field Trip to Reddish Vale

Y3 had a fantastic time on their recent Geography Field Trip to Reddish Vale. The children enriched their learning about 'What are rivers and how they are used' by collecting data on the features of a local river. The River Tame which is in the local area to St Paul's provided a great day of learning for the pupils. Thank you to our parent helpers and governors who supported the children throughout the trip and brought the sunshine with them for us all to enjoy!

Look at our Sikh headdresses!  We had lots of fun learning about this important religion during Interfaith Week.

What will we be learning this term?

In English, we will be studying the non-fiction text, 'A Stage Full of Shakespeare Stories', written by Angela McAllister and illustrated by Alice Lindstrom.

The book invites Year 3 to step onto a stage full of stories with this beautiful anthology of twelve tales from Shakespeare, rewritten to be accessible to children.  A section of the book gives details about Shakespeare's life and further information about the plays.  This term, we will read and write about 'The Merchant of Venice'.

A Stage Full of Shakespeare Stories

Our Knowledge Organisers cover the knowledge and skills that Year 3 will be learning in each half-term.

Summer 2 - Geography and Science

In Geography, we will be learning about Settlements.

In Science, we will be learning about Plants.

We love to read!

Children will have their own reading books to take home. We look forward to seeing your progress and adding a marble to our reading jar for super reading skills.  When our reading jar is full, we will celebrate with a class reward.

Children in Year 3 enjoy focussed reading sessions every day where you can develop your reading and comprehension skills.

There is also a reading corner in the classroom where children can enjoy a quiet read.

Spring 1

Year 3 visited St Luke's Church in Brinnington

Year 3 enjoyed a great visit to St Luke's Church.  They were welcomed by Reverend Andy and a team of volunteers from the church.

During the morning, both Year 3 classes took part in a range of activities to enrich their learning about Christianity.  The children looked at different styles of Bibles, some of which were very old.  They were challenged to find specific Bible verses that teach the importance of the Bible and the children discussed how the words of the Bible share the message of God.   In groups, the children learnt how God can communicate with us, using songs and stories, letters and analogies to describe experiences and how these can help us in our everyday lives.

It was lovely to welcome parent helpers on our visit and Year 3 staff and children would like to say thank you for supporting us with our learning.
