We learnt about toys that were used within living memory and beyond living memory, including those our parents and grandparents played with. We also learnt about ancient toys.
Design Technology
This half term we will be learning about structures. We will be exploring how to use different types of construction to build free standing structures.
This is Gustav Eiffel. He is a famous engineer. One of his most famous structures is the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

We will explore playground structures then design and make our own.

Reading
To begin this half term, our class novel is Horrid Henry.

In our Reading lessons we begin the half term by reading sections of 'Ghst Ship'. We love the pirate theme and the spooky characters! Benjamin and his crew are searching for the fabled treasure on the lost island of Pumpernickle!

Maths
During Year 2 we need to revise how to count in 2s, 5s and 10s. Then we need to learn the times table facts. These games will help you learn and remember the facts

Finding the Difference
We know that 'find the difference' and 'How many more..' means take away in Maths. We have been learning how to find the difference using inverse addition calculations to help with our working out. 10-4=6 (6+4=10). We have also tried to find the difference between 2 measurements. This video and song helps us to see the difference between small numbers.

Handwriting
In Year 2 it is very important that we:
- Form the letters of the alphabet correctly and the right way around.
- Write letters the correct size and make ascenders and descenders the correct shape and height.
- Know how to write capital letters correctly and the correct height.
- Begin to join some of our letters.
We should not be joining letters until we can form them correctly.

We use the Little Wandle formation cues in families. This helps us to remember how to form the letters correctly.
