I've put some suggested activities on the word document below but remember to keep doing all of those fantastic things we talked about and promised to do last time we were all together - to look after our loved ones, help out in your home by tidying up without being asked and being there for your family.

Keep safe everyone and I hope to hear from you with photos and messages of what you are getting up to while we are apart.

Take care

Wednesday 22nd April

Good afternoon Year 5 - I hope you and your families are all well on this lovely sunny day!

Miss Izard and myself are missing you all dearly and look forward to when we can all be back together - in the meantime please do email us to tell and show us what you are getting up to while lockdown continues.

It has been great receiving messages, photos and even a video so Miss Izard and myself would love to see lots more coming in over the coming weeks.

Remember to keep yourself busy and those fantastic Year 5 brains ticking over - challenge yourself to do some of the Reading and Maths activities each day from the resources we sent home as well as from the links below.  There are now some fabulous resources available that Miss Harrington messaged about that I would highly recommend.

Keep that lovely handwriting skills up as well as creative thinking by writing stories and poems and then send us a picture of your work it would be great to read them!

Don't forget there is always TT Rockstars that you can use and access - let's be the class that has the highest usage out of all of St Paul's...you can do it and even just 5 or 10 minutes a day will really help keep that times tables knowledge and practice going that will be so important for when we return to 'normal' school.

Stay safe, look after your loved ones at home and be those Fantastic Fives that I know you all are!

All the best

Mr Griffiths and Miss Izard

I hope you are all well and have been able to enjoy (safely!) the lovely sunshine this week! I've been in school this week and it has been lovely seeing all of the cherry blossoms in bloom and the pictures and projects we have been doing with the children going up on the windows and outside of the school too!

Well done to Rachael who has been working hard at home to design posters for her neighbours and also to Ella who has written a letter to an elderly resident at a care home as well as making lovely posters to go up in the care home too - great examples of Community spirit and Fantastic Fives!!

Please do keep sending me emails with updates on what you have been doing at home as it is lovely for myself and Miss Izard to see and read about you - we both miss you all so much!

Hello Year 5!

It's Monday 30th March and I wanted to send you all a message which I will be doing regularly on our class page.

I hope you're settling into a nice routine now and challenging yourself to keep your Numeracy and Literacy skills going and using the Homework Pack we prepared for you and those brilliant Year 5 books that were in there!

Do try a little bit each day but also remember to use this time to rest, relax and learn new skills too...like helping to tidy up, baking and even gardening!

I've attached a Lego challenge below (thank you Mr Moran!) which I will also be doing myself and would love to see photos of any of your creations as well as anything else you have been up to and making/creating! The best email address for your adults to send me pictures and any messages to is:

matthew.griffiths@st-pauls.stockport.sch.uk

I'll continue to keep in touch regularly through our website and please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers during this time.

Welcome to Year Five's Class Page

Happy New Year from the Year 5 Team and welcome back to Spring 2020!

What a fantastic start to Year 5 the children have had in Autumn Term and we are so

proud of how much the children have learnt and grown so far!

It is now a new decade and we've got plenty of amazing learning to come in Year 5 this Spring Term!

Things to remember.....

- School planners and reading books should be in school every day.

- Children need to have their own water bottle in school.

- PE kits should be in school every day.

- Y5MG have PE on Tuesday

- Toast or an apple is served each morning (£1 per week, paid on a Monday).

Reading

The children will be encouraged to read for pleasure as well as their school books.

Time will be given for the children to read and the class will

use Cracking comprehension on a Monday to build their reading skills.

They will have the opportunity to read their home / school book daily

so it is important they have their book and planner with them.

Please continue to read and share books at home with your children

and sign their planner when they have finished their book.

Times Tables Rockstars

The children have made a brilliant start to Rockstars which is really helping

their learning of multiplication and division.  This is so essential to their Numeracy

so we would encourage the children if possible to access it at home too daily!
