Year 5MG

THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK FOR YEAR 6!

It's the final day of the Rockstar Year 5MG and I am so so proud of all of my Rockstars and how far they have come this year both academically and personally.

It has been a fun-filled, jam-packed Year and you have all been amazing.

Thank you to all of the parents and adults for your support this year with helping the children grow and flourish.

Enjoy the well deserved summer break Year 5MG and I look forward to seeing all of you be the best you can be in Year 6!

The Final Countdown!

Can you believe we are in the final third of the year already! The sun is shining appropriately for Summer Term and what a great term ahead we have in store for our class.  I'm really looking forward to finishing the year off with a fantastic term full of learning, growth and happiness!

Christian Value

Our Christian Value for this half term is LEARNING THROUGH STORIES. Have a look on our Values tab to see how we have been exploring how that looks in our school and how we can live it out in our lives, as Jesus taught us to.

Religious Education

Our RE enriches all of our learning. This half term, we are looking at the question:

"What does it mean to be a Muslim in Britain today?"

Tuesday 8th February UPDATE

Today is Safer Internet Day and the children focussed on how we behave, communicate and act online with others in order to show respect and have safe fun online.

Here are some examples of the fab posters the children made today!

Wednesday 3rd February UPDATE

What a great afternoon the class had today gardening and helping to improve our school grounds.  The children again showed great teamwork and friendship while getting muddy and working hard outside!

Thursday 13th January UPDATE

WOW - what a day the Rockstar Fives have had today!

The children loved the STEM Creative Builders workshop to start off our new topic, "Structures of the World", with an incredible experience.

All the children worked brilliantly together to build some of the amazing structures that we will be learning about in our topic this term.  I am so proud of the children today and I know they were also proud of themselves and what they achieved smiley

Things to remember all year.....

- School planners and reading books should be in school every day.

- Children need to have their own water bottle in school.

- Toast or an apple is served each morning for those that have paid via Parentpay

Homework:

Homework will be set for each topic - please do try to complete as many of the activities as possible to earn points that will earn a special prize at the end of each topic for those children who have reached their target.  Be creative and really show that love of learning at home as well as in school

Children will be expected to complete their reading, weekly spellings and times tables activities.  This will support their progress throughout the year in literacy and numeracy.

P.E:

The children should bring in their school PE kit (including a plain sweatshirt) and keep it in school as they will be changing into their kits for PE and back into school uniform to go home. Please send them in long joggers when the weather begins to turn and a waterproof in the event of rain. We will try to access PE outside whenever we can.

Reading:

Children will have their own reading books to take home. We look forward to seeing your progress on our Reading Rocks chart.

We will be reading a class book each half term - some will be linked to our topic, others simply because they are awesome stories and great examples for us to magpie from in our own writing!

We have a well resourced school library where the children are allowed to select a book and there is also a reading corner in the classroom which we will encourage the children to use regularly to really build that love of reading.

Thursday 2nd September update:

What a fantastic first day the children had in class - they have showed super focus and behaviour which is great to see and I am sure we have a fantastic year ahead together.  The children loved meeting our new additions to the class - our class pets:

This is Jerry                                                                                                  This is Snowball.

Some important information:

P.E is on a Tuesday afternoon with Mr Stevenson - please can the children make sure they have brought a PE kit in with them by Tuesday as they will be getting changed into their kits and then back into school uniform for home time.

Swimming starts on Friday 10th September - a letter is going out tomorrow via Parentapp so please do check as it will contain all the important information.  Similar to last year please can the children come to school with their swimming costume on underneath their school clothes - they will also need to bring a bag that can hold their towel and underwear.
