Summer 2 - Welcome back!
This is our final half term together in Nursery, I cannot believe it has gone so fast!!
At times, Covid has made things difficult, but we are so proud of how the children have adjusted to any changes they have faced. The children are very resilient, coming into Nursery everyday with big smiles on their faces. We are so proud of the progress they have made this year!
We are looking forward to our fun last topic 'Dinosaurs'. We have had a very special visitor (Mummy Dinosaur) whose big footprints led us to her egg!! (the children were super excited) She has has entrusted us to look after her baby until we finish! The children will be learning lots about different dinosaurs and will learn lots of dinosaur songs and dances! We will be concentrating on 'The Little Green Dinosaur' book learning Talk for Write actions!
You can find out about all the learning taking place on the Knowledge Organiser which has been sent home but can found attached below.
If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact me!
Thank you
Mrs Brett :)
End of Half Term
What a fantastic fun filled half term! The children have enjoyed learning all about 'mini beasts' and have worked extremely hard. We used magnifying glasses to explore our class caterpillars! We look forward to hopefully seeing them turn into butterflies at the start of next half term! We have enjoyed learning all about our special story 'The Hungry Caterpillar.' Some of you have told me your child retelling the story at home which is great! We enjoyed making fruit kebabs too! The children enjoyed tasting apples, pears, blueberries and strawberries, just like The Hungry Caterpillar! Some of the things the children said were:
'The apple is juicy.' 'I can hear the apple crunch'. 'Strawberries are the sweetest!' 'I like fruit now!'
Thank you all so much for the support that you have given your child throughout the half term. Your engagement at home makes a real impact on your child and their development! Thank you to everyone who made a parent's evening appointment. It was an experience doing them virtually or by telephone! however, it was fantastic to speak to you all about your child's progress and let you know the things they do in Nursery. The children are amazing us with their counting skills and recognising numbers! Good job everyone :)
Some photos have been uploaded below of a range of learning opportunities that have taken place over the half term! The children have created beautiful art work, models and life cycles of a butterfly.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any worries or concerns over your child.
I hope that you have a lovely half term holiday and I look forward to seeing you all for our final half term together!
Love
The Nursery Team :)
Welcome back to our Summer Term! The children have settled in well and are working hard. We are really pleased with the progress they are making. The Knowledge Organiser is attached below, outlining the learning children will be taking part in this term and the ways in which you can support at home.
Thank you all so much for the support you gave to your children during the Lockdown, we appreciate the challenges of home-school learning and thank you for the time you put in in these difficult times.
Please do continue to work with your children at home, particularly encouraging them with their counting and number recognition 1-5.
You could see if they can find any shapes when out and about, and ask them if they can tell you the properties. You could discuss animal sounds, colours and practice name writing.
I am looking forward to talking with you all on Parents' Evening. Do make an appointment if you can. I can talk to you virtually or by telephone if you prefer.
Many thanks
Mrs Brett

Hello Everyone!
We hope you are all doing OK.
We hope that you have enjoyed learning all about British Woodland Animals this half term and to finish our topic off we are going to focus on 'The Gruffalo' and 'The Gruffalo's Child'. There are some activities below that you can have a go at as well as some Phonics games.
Internet Safety Day 2021 Poster Competition!
Please take part in our Internet Safety Day competition! We have attached some weblinks that you can look at to help you design and create your own poster. Please email me your poster and the winner will published on the class webpage at the end of next week! Good luck!
Thank you for all your hard work this half term and we understand how difficult it has been for everyone. The children have produced some brilliant work so far which is displayed in the classroom! If you have not yet done so, please collect Learning Packs from Main Reception. We hope you enjoy the activities and they keep you busy.
Ideas at Home
Please carry on singing Nursery Rhymes and sharing stories together. Counting toys up to five and recognising numbers when out and about. Talk about sounds your child can hear. What noise does a bus make? What about a Police car? Is the traffic loud or quiet? Asking your child to use their 'listening ears' and say what they can hear/what does it sound like/can you make the noise with your voice? goes a long way in supporting their learning.
We hope that you have a lovely and safe half term break and we look forward to seeing you all soon, we have missed you! As always, were are here to answer any questions or if you would like to send pictures of your child's learning, please drop me an email.
Love
The Nursery Team :) xx
Home Learning Week Beginning 1.02.21
Hello everyone! Hope your are all doing OK!
We hope you are enjoying learning about woodland animals. This week's pack has the last one to research...Hedgehogs!
See if you can do some of your own research by looking at the internet for information. There are lots of easy art and craft ideas on Pinterest to make your own hedgehog! In the learning pack this week there are lots of fun activities for you to complete including a Scavenger Hunt sheet to use to tick off the items you may find on a 'Winter Walk'. If you can't pick the pack up yet, here are a few things to look out for on your hunt.
Trees may be bare and animals tucked up in hibernation, but there’s still plenty to spot on a trip to the woods in winter.
Please continue to pick up the learning packs which are located in the main office.
Stay safe everyone
Love the Nursery team :)
Home Learning Week beginning 25.01.2021
Well done and thank you to all those who have been completing the learning packs. We have thoroughly enjoyed looking through the work the children have completed. If you would like to send us any pictures of what your child has been up to at home, please feel free to email on my email address above. A new pack will be available for collection from school on Monday 25th January, just phone the office to say you are on your way to collect.
Next week is our final week looking at the story 'Owl Babies'. If you haven't drawn a Story Map yet, do please have a go, drawing is a brilliant way to develop fine motor skills and of course children's drawings are so lovely! Your child can have a go at sequencing the pictures showing events in order, and can verbally recall the story which you can scribe for them.
Next week children will be finding out all about Squirrels - the pack includes a great craft activity - making a squirrel out of a yoghurt pot!
For Maths this week we are learning the Nursery Rhyme '5 Currant Buns in a Baker's Shop'. Encourage your child to sing along and match their fingers to the number. You could also write numbers 1-5 on paper, cut them out and ask your child to hold the correct numeral to the song.
Please learn our Nursery Rhyme of the week '5 Current Bun's in Baker's Shop' and ask your child to colour in the picture in the learning pack. You could add taps, claps and stomps to the beat to incorporate our Phase One phonics.
Do you have any playdough? Why not make some at home with your children. We have given you a link below to a really good recipe. Then, have a go at 'Dough Disco'. This is an activity we do each week in school. Great fun and a brilliant way to strengthen our finger muscles for writing! Check out the You tube Dough Disco with Shonna below.
We miss our friends lots and hope to see them soon!
Take care, love The Nursery Team :)

Happy New Year!
Hello everyone. I do hope you all had a lovely Christmas. I have missed everyone and am so sad and sorry that we are in the position where school has to be closed again, but please be reassured that we will do everything we can to support you and your children with education at home.
In Nursery we will continue our learning with our planned topic British Woodland Animals and each week we will provide a home learning pack with resources for you to use and clear guidance on related activities to complete.
More details to follow regarding when you can collect the packs.
Additionally, we will put links to helpful websites for home learning and supportive educational TV programmes, on the school website, so do check in on this class page weekly.
If you are happy to send me photographs of your children learning at home to share on our class webpages please do....it was a lovely way to keep in touch during the last lockdown. I am available after 3.00 pm each day to speak to about any concerns to answer questions about the tasks or simply for a friendly chat and catch up with the children, just give me a call.
You can email me and/or send pictures to my email address:
caroline.brett@st-pauls.stockport.sch.uk
I hope we can all be together again soon.
Take care and be safe
Love from Mrs Brett

Welcome back! We hope you had a good break. Thank you for helping your children to settle so well into school. They have settled so well and come into Nursery with big smiles on their faces every day!
We would like to know all the positive achievements your child does at home, so please keep the WOW notes coming in and we will look forward to celebrating them with the children. Examples could be anything from, playing nicely with their siblings, to tidying their bedrooms!
We will soon begin our new topic, 'People Who Help Us' and our new traditional tale is 'The Three Little Pigs'. We have lots of exciting activities for your child to take part in, such as role playing the 'Three Little Pigs' in the Home Corner to dressing up as 'People Who Help Us' outside.
Christmas is also coming up, unfortunately it won't be quite the same this year as we are unable to put on a performance, but we will still be doing lots of Christmas crafts with the children, reading the 'Nativity' story and learning some Christmas songs.
Thank you for paying your tuck every week!
A couple of reminders:
Nursery times are 8.45-11.45
Please could we ask only one parent to pick up and drop off.
To keep the children as safe as possible, we are asking that only Nursery children are allowed to 'touch' the climbing frame and outside resources at this current time. Thank you.
